Kinonik and St. Lawrence Arts present: The Golem
January 27 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm$10 – $12
The Golem: How He Came Into The World (1920) Directed by Paul Wegener and Carl Boese. The Golem is one of the classics of German expressionist horror. This tale of a Jewish rabbi creating a monstrous servant made of clay takes place in a Polish ghetto the design of which is balanced neatly between realism and expressionism. The Golem was a major influence on subsequent horror films. Paul Wegener’s performance as the title character is the reference point for James Whale’s Frankenstein monster. With live musical accompaniment by Carolyn Swartz on piano.
