Lyrid Meteor Shower Watch Party

April 22, 2020 @ 8:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Free

The ancient Chinese are said to have observed the Lyrid meteors “falling like rain” in 687 B.C. The Lyrid Meteor Shower typically produces 10 to 25 meteors per hour, but surges of 100 meteors per hour are possible! During this program, we hope to witness the same phenomenon and supply a chorus of “ooohs” and “aaahs.” Come out to Lake George Regional Park and be prepared to see an astronomical wonder! Snacks will be provided.

This program is perfect for all ages and abilities. Make sure to bring water and a headlamp or flashlight if you have one. We ask that you also bring something to sit on, maybe a folding chair or towel. Meet us at the last parking lot on the East Side.

This is a free community event of the Skowhegan AmeriCorps Outdoor Recreation Program (SAORP) of Main Street Skowhegan in collaboration with Lake George Regional Park.
