Poets Linda Aldrich and Kevin Casey will read a selection of their poetry at the Harlow Gallery on Friday, September 15, beginning at 7 pm. This event is part of The Bookey Readings at the Harlow, a poetry series hosted by the Harlow. The public is invited to attend and experience an evening of spoken word in the setting of an art gallery. A $3 donation is appreciated at the door to benefit programming at the Harlow Gallery.
Linda Aldrich grew up in New Hampshire. She has lived in France, San Francisco, Colorado, and Vermont—places she still misses. She currently lives in Portland, Maine, with her husband, David Miller, and their exceptional dog Simba. She has published two collections of poetry, Foothold (2008, Finishing Line Press) and March and Mad Women (2012, Cherry Grove Collections). Her poems have appeared in numerous journals and anthologies, among them Crazy Woman Creek, Indiana Review, Cimarron Review, Elixir, The Denver Quarterly, Ellipsis, The Florida Review, The Ilanot Review, Off the Coast, Poet Lore, Third Coast, Puerto del Sol, Snake Nation Review, The Best of Write Action, and Words and Images. Her poem “Woman-without-Arms” won the Emily Dickinson Award 2000 from Universities West Press. Visit her website at www.lindaaldrichpoetry.com.
Kevin Casey is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and the University of Connecticut. Recent works of mine have been accepted by Green Hills Literary Lantern, Kentucky Review, Rust + Moth, San Pedro River Review, and other publications. My new chapbook “The wind considers everything –” was recently published by Flutter Press, and another from Red Dashboard is due out later this year. Visit his website at www.andwaking.com.
During the reading, visitors can also view the Harlow Gallery’s comic book themed art exhibition, POW!, which is on view September 8 – October 21.
